Dean, Barnard Library and Academic Information Services
Barnard College
Koya | Diversified Search Group partnered with Barnard College on its Dean, Library and Academic Information Services (BLAIS) search. Our work resulted in the appointment of Monica McCormick. As Dean of BLAIS, McCormick will bring proven leadership and expertise in the acquisition, dissemination, and preservation of materials that advance knowledge.
Barnard Library is dedicated to intellectual discovery and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The Library seeks to bring together people, ideas, collections, and technologies, forming a space and community that serves as a catalyst for knowledge creation and investigation.
McCormick comes to the College after four years as Associate University Librarian for Publishing, Preservation, Research and Digital Access, at the University of Delaware. At Delaware, she provided strategic and operational direction for four departments — Library IT, Digital Collections and Preservation, Digital Scholarship and Publishing, along with the University of Delaware Press — she led the design, development, management, and support of current and emerging library-based digital initiatives, repository services, scholarly communication, and research data services.
Prior to the University of Delaware, McCormick spent nine years as Program Officer for Digital Scholarly Publishing at New York University, where she developed strategies and led services for digital publishing and managed collaborative projects between Libraries and NYU Press.
She earned her BA in history from Carleton College. McCormick holds an MSLS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
