Koya | Diversified Search Group partnered with the Phoenix Art Museum on the search that resulted in the recruitment of Jeremy Mikolajczak as the Sybil Harrington Director and CEO.
Mikolajczak is formally the Jon and Linder Ender Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Tucson Museum of Art (TMA) and Historic Block. Since joining the museum in March of 2016, Mikolajczak led a transformational change at TMA, including strategic and capital campaigns that reflect the vision as a leading 21st-century regional museum. Under his leadership, TMA completed three major construction and expansion projects, including a complete renovation of the main museum building, the establishment and renovation of the Alice Chaiten Baker Center for Art Education, and the building of the Kasser Family Wing of Latin American Art. Additionally, Mikolajczak focused on building sustainable investment in the museum, DEI initiatives, and increasing access to exhibitions and educational programs that promote the core of the museum’s mission.
Before TMA, Mikolajczak served as the Executive Director and Chief Curator of Miami Dade College’s Museum and Galleries of Art + Design in Miami, Florida. Mikolajczak oversaw the college’s network of six campus galleries and international sculpture park and led the institution’s evolution, founding the Museum of Art + Design and Cuban Exile Experience, located in the Freedom Tower (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) in downtown Miami. He engaged a broad range of audiences, drawing 100,000 visitors annually through exhibitions and programs that included art, design, as well as local history and culture. During his tenure, he raised the profile of the college’s visual arts programs to local, national, and international exposure.
Mikolajczak’s experience includes working with major private, corporate, and museum art collections, and regional, national, and international artists. He has curated and organized multiple solo and group exhibitions, including Patrick Martinez: Look What You Created; Learning to See: Josef Albers, IMPACT and LEGACY: 50 Years of the CINTAS Foundation; Shen Wei in Black, White, and Gray, A Life’s Work: Arnold Mesches; Rituales en Haiti: Cristina Garcia Rodero; and TOLEDO/TOLEDO: Full Circle. Mikolajczak has published over 20 exhibition catalogs and frequently contributes articles on art, design, and museum administration.
