Koya | Diversified Search Group partnered with Villanova University on the appointment of Leonard Nelson as Chief Information Security Officer.
Leonard Nelson comes to Villanova having most recently served as Assistant Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Rowan University and Rowan Medicine where he led the team responsible for establishing and maintaining the university-wide information security and risk management program to ensure that information assets were protected.
Prior to joining Rowan University, he spent several years with Temple University, holding IT leadership roles in quality assurance, development, and client services before serving as Director of Information Technology and University Privacy Officer.
He has also held multiple positions in the non-profit, private, and public sectors and in addition has worked on various technology projects with these organizations. He has also spent several years as an adjunct professor for the Management Information Systems department at Temple University.
Leonard’s community involvement includes serving on the Advisory Council for the Information Technology Audit and Cyber Security program at the Fox School of Business, acting as a mentor for students interested in careers in technology, as well as assisting with the civic organization in his neighborhood.
Leonard earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Messiah College and Master’s degree in Information Systems from Temple University. He holds the CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional), and GSLC (GIAC Security Leadership) certifications.
