Adventure Science Center
We partnered with the Adventure Science Center to recruit its next President & CEO. For over 75 years, Adventure Science Center has been bringing science to life for students, teachers, and families in Middle Tennessee and across the United States. The organization offers engaging learning experiences and science fun through hands-on, interactive exhibits, innovative programs, and full-dome productions in its state-of-the-art Sudekum Planetarium. Adventure Science Center strives to open every mind to the wonders of science and technology, fostering a better understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
The search resulted in the appointment of Leah Melber to the role.
With more than twenty years of experience as a museum professional, Melber is a seasoned and dynamic executive passionate about advancing science literacy through innovative practice, impactful execution, and strategic partnerships.
Prior to her appointment, she served as the Senior Director of Education at the Catalina Island Conservancy, where she sat on the executive leadership team and lead all aspects of the education program, providing formal and non-formal experiences designed to deliver nature-based engagement and experiential learning.
Melber has held various positions at other, notable institutions throughout her career including the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science. While at the Zoo, Melber was the founding Director of the award-winning Hurvis Center for Learning Innovation. She was also part of the senior leadership team for the grand opening of the Frost Museum of Science.
An active member of the American Alliance of Museums and other cultural institution associations, Leah frequently contributes to the field. She has served as a national and international thought leader, advancing innovation with the museum field and informal learning through publications, presentations, and advisory committees.
Melber holds her Bachelor’s in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire. She received her Master’s in Education from Pepperdine University. She also earned a Doctorate in Education from the University of Southern California.
