Senior Director of Institutional Relations
Brennan Center for Justice
DSG | Koya partnered with the Brennan Center for Justice on the search for a Senior Director of Institutional Relations. The Brennan Center for Justice is an independent, nonpartisan law and policy organization that works to reform, revitalize, and when necessary, defend the United States’ systems of democracy and justice.
Our work resulted in the recruitment of Alexander Rose to the role.
Before joining the Brennan Center, Rose was chief of staff at Fairmark Partners, a boutique impact litigation firm, where he litigated data-driven civil rights cases, managed day-to-day operations, and led fundraising efforts. His work at the firm was covered by media outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Law360.
Prior to Fairmark, Rose served as special advisor to the New York governor’s counsel. In that role, he worked with several agencies on a host of legal disputes, advised on policy strategy, co-drafted regulations and administrative code, and served as the counsel’s speechwriter. Rose served on the Council on Community Reentry and Reintegration, a public-private body tasked with removing legal and societal barriers faced by individuals with criminal records. He also was on the team reviewing clemency petitions, where he made recommendations for pardons and commutations.
Before government service, Rose worked for campaigns, think tanks, and multiple publications, including The Moscow Times, where he was a reporter on the crime and news beats, and The New Yorker, where he was briefly at the cartoons desk.
Rose received his BA from Harvard College and his JD from New York University School of Law, where he is currently a senior affiliated research scholar at the Community Equity Initiative.
