Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences

Koya Partners | Diversified Search Group partnered with the Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences (“the Society”) to recruit its President and Chief Executive Officer.

The Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences is a unique cultural institution with a storied history. The Society has been inspiring the joyful exploration of science and nature since its founding in 1861. Today, it accomplishes its mission through interactive exhibits and experiences at two venues: the Buffalo Museum of Science and the Tifft Nature Preserve, a 264- acre restored habitat. As an anchor institution on Buffalo’s East Side, the Society is committed to community engagement in the pursuit of embracing science to advance a shared respect for our diverse world.

Our work resulted in the recruitment of Gary Siddall to the role.

Previously, Siddall served as the President & CEO of the Aquarium of Niagara. He became deputy director at the aquarium in 2014, before being named CEO in 2016. He began as a volunteer 20 years ago and advanced through the institution’s zoological department.

As the head of the Aquarium, Siddall oversaw a full-scale revision of the institution’s master and strategic plans, as well as $15 million in capital improvements, including the Great Lakes 360 expansion opening next year. During his tenure, the Aquarium also received its first-ever accreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Siddall graduated from Buffalo State University with a B.A. in Psychology. He received an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Medaille University.
