Laguna Art Museum
Koya | Diversified Search Group partnered with the Laguna Art Museum on its Executive Director search. Laguna Art Museum is the museum of California art. It collects, cares for, and exhibits works of art that were created by California artists or represent the life and history of the state. Unlike any other museum in the state, it collects California art and only California art, and ranges across all periods and styles, from the nineteenth century to the present day.
Our work resulted in the appointment of Julie Perlin Lee as the museum’s next leader.
Julie Perlin Lee most recently served as Executive Director of Catalina Island Museum, where she led a period of growth including a successful annual gala, high-profile exhibitions and educational programs, as well as the completion of a capital project for the museum’s new permanent facility. Lee was responsible for a significant rise in individual, foundation, and legacy giving, enhanced the care and quality of the museum’s collections, and increased Catalina Island Museum’s recognition and prominence. Personally, she and her family participated in service groups and clubs throughout Avalon.
Previously, Lee was the Vice President of Collections and Exhibition Development at the Bowers Museum where she worked from 2008 to 2016 to grow the permanent collection, direct research and preservation, organize exhibitions, and contribute to museum publications.
Lee holds a BA in Art History, MFA in Exhibition Design, and Certificate in Museum Studies from California State University, Fullerton.
