Program Associate, Sustainable Environments

Surdna Foundation

We partnered with the Surdna Foundation on the search for a Program Associate for Sustainable Environments. The Surdna Foundation seeks to foster sustainable communities in the United States – communities guided by principles of social justice and distinguished by healthy environments, inclusive economies, and thriving cultures.

Our work resulted in the recruitment of Kayla Hunter to the role.

Hunter is passionate about achieving environmental justice and creating healthy environments for low-income communities and communities of color. She is interested in the intersection between health and quality of one’s environment.

Previously, Hunter served as Program Coordinator for Placemaking and Workforce Development at Brownsville Community Justice Center where she supported economic mobility initiatives, engaged and educated young people around placemaking as a method for reducing crime and violence in Brownsville, Brooklyn.

Hunter graduated from Spelman College with a BA In Environmental Studies. She earned a double Masters in Urban Planning and Masters in Public Health from the University of Michigan.
