Tyler Arboretum

We partnered with Tyler Arboretum, a 650-acre public garden in Media, Pennsylvania, on the search for an Executive Director.

Our work resulted in the recruitment of Mike Skuja to the role.

As Executive Director, Skuja focuses on building community partnerships and expanding public engagement opportunities, while also leading the organization’s efforts to address climate change and strengthen its resilience.

Skuja has nearly 25 years of experience in environmental work, including serving as the Executive Director of Tualatin Riverkeepers and a manager within Pew Charitable Trusts’ environment portfolio. He has worked on diverse conservation initiatives, from developing a watershed jobs training program to building bridges between conservationists and the agricultural community through river restoration.

He serves as a member of the Theme on Governance, Equity, and Rights working group for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature-Commission on Environmental, Economic, and Social Policy, providing advice on human rights-based approaches to conservation and environmental justice.

Skuja holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned a Master of Science in Biodiversity, Conservation, and Management from the University of Oxford.
