Nicholas
Stevens
Chief Financial Officer
Appalachian Mountain Club
We partnered with the Appalachian Mountain Club on the search for a Chief Financial Officer. The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) is a mission-driven organization committed to advancing the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of the outdoors since 1876.
Our work resulted in the recruitment of Nicholas Stevens to the role.
In partnership with the CEO and senior executive team, Stevens helps develop and implement AMC’s overall mission and strategy while overseeing finance, planning,
compliance, risk management, and sustainability efforts across the organization.
Stevens has more than 25 years of experience in finance, operations management, corporate strategy, and business development. He has worked extensively in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector and has deep functional expertise in cross-border project finance, public-private partnership design and implementation, social sector management, business and strategic planning, and global operations.
Prior to AMC, Stevens served as the Chief Financial & Operating Officer for the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), an international NGO focused on serving communities most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
Prior to his roles at AMC and ISC, Stevens managed ICT investments, transactions, and ventures (cumulatively valued in the multiple billions of US dollars) that focused on closing the “digital divide” in mostly emerging and frontier markets. During this period, he worked for firms like GE, Toronto Dominion, and the Hearst Corporation and advised clients ranging from the Federated States of Micronesia and the Government of Sierra Leone to Bloomberg LP and the World Bank (among others).
Stevens holds a BS in International Affairs from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. He earned an MBA from Harvard University.
