About One Hope United

The mission of One Hope United (OHU) is to increase opportunities for children and families by providing quality solutions that enhance lives, communities, and futures. The drive to go beyond is inherent in the DNA and culture of OHU. It is in the organization’s vision statement:  For every child and family, life without limits.

Founded in 1895, One Hope United is a multistate nonprofit that helps children and families build the skills to live life without limits. OHU serves over 10,000 children and families each year through education centers, child and family services, counseling, and residential programs. With evidence-based and trauma-informed practices, OHU empowers children and families to see and create a future where, regardless of their past, they can reach their full potential.

OHU is committed to providing the best possible care and support to children and families. Looking ahead, OHU has embraced providing care beyond the contract—services that encircle and enhance programs and improve long-term outcomes.  OHU seeks to balance high-quality service delivery against long-term financial imperatives. OHU’s lines of service include:

  • Education Centers: Delivering quality childcare, early education, and school-age programs that prepare children for lifelong success and are accessible to all families.
  • Child and Family Services: Supporting families who are working to stay together or reunify, and helping children in foster care find their permanent, loving home.
  • Behavioral Health: Providing therapy and evidence-based treatments, including trauma treatments, that support individuals’ and families’ emotional and mental well-being.
  • Residential Programs: Creating homes where young people can heal from past trauma, grow as individuals and students, and thrive as they prepare for independent adulthood.

With an annual budget of approximately $73 million, a staff of 800, and services in Florida, Illinois, and Missouri, OHU is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable, under-resourced youth populations. In addition to direct service, OHU engages in education and advocacy on the local, state, and national levels.
