ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (USA).   The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine is seeking an experienced Transfusion Medicine specialist to lead and direct a dynamic clinical laboratory section, which includes a tertiary care center blood bank, immunohematology reference laboratory, apheresis service, and a cellular therapy laboratory.

Candidates must possess a M.D. or D.O. and be board-certified in either Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology or Hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or Pediatrics, and they must also be boarded in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine by the American Board of Pathology.  

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in a transfusion service setting, general knowledge of all areas of transfusion medicine, and a deep subject matter expertise in at least one of the following specialty areas: patient blood management, stem cell transplantation, cellular therapies, transplant support/histocompatibility, or laboratory coagulation.  The selected individual will join a group of four pathology-based faculty and will be expected to participate in scholarly activities including teaching and research. Faculty appointment will be in the Department of Pathology with academic rank commensurate with experience, accomplishments, and track record of achievement.

The section serves patients and world-class providers at Michigan Medicine Health as well as patients referred through our national reference laboratory service, MLabs.
