The University of Michigan, School of Public Health (UMSPH), invites accomplished scholars and public health leaders to apply for the Chair of its vibrant Department of Health Behavior and Health Education.  UMSPH is a leader in the public health community, and the next chair will play a leadership role in the school and across the University of Michigan.  

The Department of Health Behavior and Health Education is comprised of 40 faculty, who are recognized for their innovation in research, scholarship, and teaching to enhance the health and well-being of communities and promote health equity.  The dynamic person will play a leadership role building upon the department’s legacy of advancing health, reducing preventable illness, and promoting health equity through the application of research, teaching, service, and practice that promotes health and quality of life within and across diverse population

Position Qualifications. Candidates should hold a Ph.D., M.D., J.D., or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline; attained the rank of Professor or be eligible to be appointed at that rank; have a robust research portfolio; relevant expertise in areas including but not limited to health behavior, health equity, community-based participatory research, health communication, and health promotion; Department chairs in the School of Public Health are expected to be tenured members of the faculty.
