The University of Texas Tyler School of Medicine seeks an accomplished leader to serve as the Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine. Applicants should have sufficient academic experience and credentials to qualify for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor Rank. With appropriate qualifications, the chief position will be furnished with an Endowed Chair.

The chief will report directly to the Chair of Internal Medicine and will be responsible for building upon existing institutional strengths in infectious diseases to position the division as a nationally-recognized program. The new chief will integrate the diverse clinical and research activities within the UT Tyler School of Medicine; grow inpatient and outpatient infectious disease clinical programs; participate in the education and training of medical students and residents; and lead the development of a new infectious diseases fellowship training program.

UT Health Science Center at Tyler has a nationally recognized, NIH-funded program of research dedicated to the study of immune responses to TB and influenza, and has a nationally-known program for the study and treatment of nontuberculous mycobacterial disease (NTM).

UT Tyler School of Medicine will be the first medical school in northeast Texas, welcoming their first class of students in the Fall of 2023.  Construction has begun on a new $308 million Medical Education Building and represents an expansion of the UT Health East Texas System.  UT Tyler, UT Health East Texas and the University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center have formed a partnership to improve the educational and healthcare outcomes of East Texas.
