Reporting directly to the Dean of Oxford College and indirectly to the Senior Vice President and Dean of Campus Life on the Atlanta campus of Emory University, the Senior Associate Dean of Campus Life/Chief Student Affairs Officer will be directly responsible for leading the numerous departments that make up the heart of the Oxford student experience:  the Center for Healthful Living; the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Counseling Services; Student Health; Student Involvement and Leadership; International Student Programs, and Residential Education and Services. A staff of 52 dedicated, experienced, and highly capable professionals comprise the Campus Life division.

 The new leader will understand the unique characteristics of a campus serving only first and second year students, with the majority living in campus housing, while also having the broader leadership experience needed to oversee a sizable department with multiple functions. A doctoral degree in a relevant field (such as higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, or a related discipline) preferred. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in student affairs or a related field, with progressive leadership responsibilities; demonstrated knowledge of student development theory, current trends in higher education, and best practices in student engagement and support services; an in-depth understanding of the unique needs of first- and second-year students; strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills; and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships.
