Western Michigan University seeks an experienced and accomplished leader to serve as Dean of the College of Health and Human Services. The dean will have responsibility for leading a vision informed by equity, deliberative and shared governance, interdisciplinary strategic initiatives, and external funding priorities, while defining the College's role in broader mission of the University. The dean reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and is responsible for visionary, innovative leadership and effective administration of the college. The dean also serves on the Provost’s Council, which is involved with university-wide policy and planning issues.

The Dean of the College of Health and Human Services will advance the mission of the College and the University, along with advancing WMU’s Strategic Plan 2022-32. The dean is responsible for overseeing research, undergraduate and graduate education, enrollment management, academic and strategic planning, faculty and student development, grant and other external funding, collaboration with local, state or national agencies and institutions, and continuous quality improvement of the college’s programs and management. The dean works with faculty and staff to provide support for curricular improvement and achievement of a balanced vision for both undergraduate and graduate programs, including the provision of leadership with interdisciplinary collaboration. These activities include partnering with WMUx to offer innovative academic programming through online education and at regional locations to expand the scholarship and resources of Western Michigan University to learners and communities beyond Kalamazoo. The dean is responsible for fiscal oversight of the college within the WMU budget model and also will actively engage in fundraising and development activities to support the vision and mission of the college.
