The University of California, Berkeley seeks a collaborative, equity-focused leader to serve as the next Assistant Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Chief of Staff (AVP/CoS) within the Graduate Division. Berkeley invites nominations and applications for this critical leadership role.

Reporting to Lisa García Bedolla, Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate Division, the AVP/CoS serves as senior advisor on Graduate Division-specific and campus-wide priorities, such as improving the graduate student experience; diversity, inclusion, and campus climate issues; enhancing graduate student professional development opportunities; and overall support for the graduate student community. Interfacing with a broad range of offices to support the activities of the Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate Division, the AVP/CoS manages sensitive and confidential matters and develops strategies and solutions to address a wide range of issues.

The ideal candidate will be a deeply collaborative and equity-focused leader possessing the ability to establish division goals in alignment with mission and motivate others to achieve. A bachelor’s degree and significant leadership and management experience in large, complex institutional environments is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
