About The Goodness Web

The Goodness Web is a new alternative to traditional philanthropy aimed at radically changing the trajectory, timeline, and impact of work in the youth mental health arena. Founded by a dynamic and dedicated group of successful corporate leaders, we connect a diverse community of result-oriented donors and partners who pool their resources and expertise to accelerate the most promising mental health initiatives to improve the lives of youth and those who care for them.

Since 2022, The Goodness Web has raised $12M from our generous community of donors and through a curated due diligence process so far has granted $6.1M to proven organizations driving systems change and expanding the availability of support for mental health and well-being across the adolescent mental health ecosystem. These inaugural, multi-year grants focus on on-campus awareness, prevention, and early intervention; insurance parity and equitable access of mental healthcare; service provision for youth and parents in primary care offices; and policy change to advance youth mental health. We are embarking on our next campaign to raise $20M to continue our transformative grants.

As a community and an organization, we are: powered by hope & love; anchored in realism & humility; united by passion & compassion; designed for diversity & inclusion; built to be bold & disruptive; and operated with accountability & transparency.

The Opportunity

Partnering closely with TGW founders and the Board of Directors, the inaugural CEO will play a critical role in shaping and delivering on our bold vision of collective philanthropy for youth mental health. The CEO will lead all internal strategy and operations in support of TGW reaching its ambitious fundraising targets and effectively engaging new and current donor families for outsized impact. In addition, the CEO will lead the design of systems and processes to ensure that fundraising, grantmaking, and communications are carried out in alignment with TGW's vision, mission, and values, including championing a movement of radical collaboration to make systems level change in youth mental health.

Reporting directly to Mark Verdi, Co-Founder and Board member, the CEO will hire and grow a small team of talented professionals to raise funds, lead a due diligence and nonprofit grantee selection process, grant multi-year gifts, foster community, and leverage The Goodness Web to make sustaining and momentous shifts in youth mental health prevention and the intervention landscape.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Organizational Strategy and Management

  • Co-create, operationalize, and execute the multi-year funding strategy to generate TGW's next $20 million dollar campaign.
  • With the Board & Founders, build out the due diligence and grantee selection process, implementing an iterative practice that formalizes a sustainable selection cycle, utilizes a rigorous and data-informed approach, and nurtures grantee success.
  • Build the infrastructure and team to support selected grantees over time through thoughtful governance, mentorship, and data collection.
  • Design and oversee a strategy to diversify TGW's revenue streams and pooled donations to ensure TGW attracts and retains a diverse group of individual, corporate, and institutional investors.

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship Support

  • Develop and lead execution on a comprehensive investor relations strategy for TGW that includes individual donors, corporate partners, and foundation giving.
  • Leverage existing networks and contacts of TGW to amplify the giving and potential of all members, for multi-year, long-term impact.
  • Develop a pipeline of individual, corporate and foundation donors.  Create targeted outreach to introduce TGW to new donors, solicit financial support, and expand fundraising portfolio.
  • Ensure TGW has the development infrastructure to support ambitious and exponential fundraising, including standard operating procedures, scalable systems, and donor management tools tailored to members.
  • Engage the existing Goodness Web membership through events, updates, and learning opportunities to build a committed community of partners practicing radical collaboration.
  • Ensure appropriate donor recognition opportunities through events, publications, and related publicity vehicles.

Board Governance & Team Leadership

  • Leverage the passion, talents, and connections of TGW Founders to best utilize their time and abilities for amplified results.
  • Promote active Board involvement, providing regular communication and updates for the Board to make informed decisions and fulfill its responsibilities as stewards and advocates of TGW.
  • Directly manage a small and nimble staff, and determine the path forward for future hires, roles and responsibilities, and professional development.
