Atrium Health Navicent is searching for a Department of Family Medicine Chairperson to join the faculty and lead the clinical and educational program. The Chairperson will lead the Family Medicine Residency and Geriatric Medicine Fellowship through detailed oversight of the training programs and institutional requirements, maintaining an environment of scholarly inquiry, professionalism and diversity, and facilitation of the resident and fellow learner’s development. The program began in 1972, is ACGME accredited, has trained over 300 physicians, including a recent Surgeon General, and continues to grow in an underserved community that truly benefits from graduate medical education. The department serves as the academic training center for 27 residents and 2 fellows, along with medical students and behavioral health interns, through our faculty appointments within the Mercer University School of Medicine.
The department is home to 8 full-time faculty, with plans to expand to 10 faculty (plus the Chair) through ongoing recruitment. Faculty are responsible for the supervision of residents and fellows in the outpatient and inpatient settings in addition to didactic teaching, curriculum development, and maintaining an active outpatient clinical practice. Faculty enjoy both the opportunity to educate future providers and to build strong clinical practices. Position Qualifications
Education and Credentials
MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree is required.
Board Certified in Family Medicine.
Eligible for Georgia licensure.
Experience
Previous experience as a professor and academic faculty member (minimum of 5 years).
Experience leading physicians in a community-based setting desirable.
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate a passion for teaching the next generation of physicians.
