Augusta University seeks a visionary, entrepreneurial, and collaborative leader who will play a central role in shaping the success, growth, and future of the College of Nursing. The dean will lead efforts in promoting excellence in student learning, research/scholarship, and teaching; demonstrate an unwavering commitment to student, attract external resources and fundraise, prioritize enrollment growth, and support the university’s leadership role in community health and engagement.

Augusta University is one of only four public research universities in Georgia and the only one with a nationally recognized academic health center dedicated to training future innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers. Its 11 schools and colleges offer 160+ degrees across four campuses and off-site instructional locations throughout Georgia. Nearly 1,900 faculty provide exceptional instruction, mentorship, and education experiences to over 10,500 students both inside and beyond the classroom.

Established in 1943 and now the largest Nursing College in the state of Georgia, Augusta’s College of Nursing (CON) prepares students for successful careers in nursing through a combination of engaging coursework, hands-on training, and accessible faculty who are mentors and advisors for students. Students in the College of Nursing will be prepared to help address current and future health challenges through an education focused on nursing standards, patient safety, and community service.

The College of Nursing offers courses at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. The College also offers post-graduate certificate programs for working professionals. Students pursuing their undergraduate degree in nursing can choose a BSN or accelerated BSN path. Graduates of the BSN and ABSN programs are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN to obtain the professional state license, Registered Nurse (RN). The BSN 1st time pass rate for 2023 is 96.45 percent. Graduates of the College of Nursing may take the exam for a Registered Nurse license in the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and four U.S. territories: American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, and the Virgin Islands.

The dean of the College of Nursing will be a visionary and seasoned leader, dedicated to stewarding significant growth in enrollment, curricula, scholarship, and community engagement. The dean is the chief administrative and academic officer of the college. They are responsible for the college’s teaching, research, and service mission. While overseeing the college’s operations, policies, and procedures, the new dean will provide strategic direction, set priorities for resource allocation, and work to generate new funding to support future growth. Reporting to the provost, the dean helps to ensure that Augusta University achieves the key objectives of the university’s strategic plan. The dean is the chief advocate for the college, representing the College of Nursing within the university, the broader community, and external and community partners.

The ideal candidate will bring a record of distinguished academic leadership, research/scholarship, teaching, and/or experience in a hospital or clinical setting. An earned doctoral degree and academic credentials for earning tenure at least at the Associate Professor level are required for this position. A Ph.D. or DNP, relevant academic administrative experience, and a record of scholarly achievement commensurate with an appointment at the rank of Professor at Augusta University are preferred.

This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in Georgia. Salary commensurate with experience with a generous benefits package.
