The Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University seeks a thoughtful, forward looking, and results driven program leader to serve as the Senior Director for Collaborations. The Senior Director plays an integral role in growing the center’s impact across Harvard and around the world. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Faculty Director, they will build and nurture a growing community of scholars, students, and practitioners. The Senior Director will be responsible for the planning, development, oversight, and execution of the center-wide strategy for developing collaborations and an energized community across Harvard University and beyond. Leading a team of five direct reports, the Senior Director will be responsible for organizing activities that generate, advance, and exchange research, ideas, and resources.

 The Senior Director will be a nimble and flexible leader comfortable working in a dynamic high energy environment, able to both set strategy and adjust priorities and projects as needed, while clearly communicating with staff and supporting their success and development.   The ideal candidate will be highly organized, thorough, and communicative - and possess proficient operations and project management skills to ensure repeated follow through with high standards on a range of projects and initiatives.

The Senior Director will be a highly strategic organization and culture builder. They will identify connection points within and outside of the institution to further advance the visibility and the work of the center and its affiliated faculty, and the development of key partnerships. The Senior Director will be politically astute, with a high level of emotional intelligence, sound judgement, and a commitment to excellence.

Engaging with a wide range of constituents, including faculty, staff, funders, and partners will require outstanding communication skills and the ability to operate with the highest level of diplomacy. This person is confident, compassionate, takes pride and joy in work that elevates the success of the broader organization, and often plays a role that supports others from behind the scenes.
