Associate Dean, Clinical Affairs
WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) seeks an Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs. Reporting to Dr. Miko Rose, the Founding Dean of the College Osteopathic Medicine, the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs is responsible for overseeing the clinical curricular areas of the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Program at IUP. Critical to this role is familiarity with the AOA COCA accreditation process, alongside the skills, excitement, and drive needed to develop the educational program from the ground-up. This role requires an innovative thinker who is a “team-player” who is enjoyable to work with. This role will work collaboratively with the Associate Dean of Pre-Clinical Affairs and Dean once hired.
Given the significant shortage of primary care physicians practicing in rural Pennsylvania, IUP has committed to building the first public College of Osteopathic Medicine in the state. Health disparities in rural areas coupled with a shortage of caregivers in rural settings outlines an imperative for a public education solution. IUP has always been committed to serving its community, region, the Commonwealth, and the nation by graduating leaders who are ready to change the world. Addressing the need for talented, committed health care providers – especially in rural areas – is part of IUP’s mission. Therefore, the proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine will train osteopathic medical students with a strong emphasis on practice in rural settings, in alignment with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Initiative to Strengthen Primary Health Care.
