The University of North Georgia invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Arts & Letters. Reporting directly to the Provost, the Dean will lead the University’s largest college, serving as a visible and valued campus leader. The Dean will partner with College and University leadership to formulate and implement strategies that promote academic excellence and scholarly activity, respond to community and workforce development priorities, and prepare students to be successful in their careers and as leaders in their chosen professions.

The University of North Georgia (UNG) is part of the University System of Georgia. With about 18,000 students, the University of North Georgia is one of the state’s largest public universities. 

As a multi-campus institution and federally designated senior military college, UNG is unique in the range of educational pathways it offers students. From associate degrees to graduate-level programs, UNG provides an array of opportunities to help develop students into leaders for a diverse and global society. One of only six federally designated senior military colleges in the nation, the University carries the distinction of The Military College of Georgia, and its nationally recognized Army officer development program attracts students from across the state, region, and nation. The Position

Reporting to the Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Chaudron Gille, the Dean of the College of Arts & Letters (CAL) serves as a member of the Provost’s Council as well as the College’s Chief Academic and Executive Officer. The Dean is responsible for all matters related to the College’s internal management, including recruiting, and retaining talented faculty; establishing community, regional, national, and international partnerships to support faculty and student needs; and overseeing operations and budgeting as well as developing external relationships and engaging in philanthropic pursuits. This position manages an annual budget of approximately $32 million and works closely with approximately 350 faculty (155 tenured, 41 tenure-track, and 151 non-tenured-track) and 30 full- and five part-time staff.

The Dean will partner with College and University leadership to formulate and implement strategies that promote academic excellence and scholarly activity, respond to community and workforce development priorities, and prepare students to be successful in their careers and as leaders in their chosen professions.
