Wellstar, one of the largest health systems in Georgia and known nationally for its innovative care models focused on quality improvement and increased access to healthcare, is seeking a Vice President, Perioperative Operations for Kennestone Regional Medical Center & Windy Hill located just north of metro Atlanta in Marietta, GA.  As one of the Top 100 hospitals and the flagship of the Wellstar Health System, Kennestone is a Level II trauma hospital with over 600 beds and has launched the work for a $310M new, state-of-the-art bed tower.  The hospital is one of four Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Centers in Georgia and is the only Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Cardiac Center in the state and seventh in the nation.

Oversight for this role includes Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center; Windy Hill Hospital, a 30-bed LTAC hospital; multiple Health Parks; and numerous ambulatory care sites employing 12,000 employees and generating $2B in net revenue.  As a key leader within the Kennestone leadership teams, the VP of Perioperative Operations oversees the strategic, operational, and quality aspects and has accountability for the direct reports of the perioperative and procedural operations.  This role requires a leader who is highly effective in multi-site management as it has direct oversight of over 20 perioperative departments across 6+ sites.  This role is also responsible for the Kennestone L/2 Trauma Services Program; Cardiovascular Services including the Cardiovascular Operating Room; the Sterile Processing Department; and the Wellstar Medical Group equipment sterilization and system SPD educators.

 

Key Selection Criteria for this position includes the following:  

  • A Master’s degree in business, healthcare administration, nursing or other related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in perioperative and procedural services in a hospital/healthcare environment, preferably in a large, complex or multi-hospital setting in a competitive market.
  • Experience working within a matrix operating structure and with system and service line leadership.
  • Strong metrics-driven performance improvement background is important, as is the ability to coach leaders to higher levels of accountability and execution.
  • Superb physician relationship skills and the ability to assure their involvement in developing systems to assure the growth of the service and cost-effective delivery of quality patient care in a manner that fosters patient and employee satisfaction.
  • Knowledge and command of the principles of financial analysis, planning, operations, and human resources and the ability to use data to create accountability structures to drive success.
  • Highly developed leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and in developing collaborative working relationships at the system and hospital level.
  • Proactively searches for and recommends opportunities to enhance perioperative services and revenue.
  • Innovative, visible and transformational leader.
