Fisher-Titus Medical Center, a 99-bed acute care hospital located in Norwalk, OH, is in search of a Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Reporting to the President & CEO, Brent Burkey, MD, the CMO at Fisher-Titus Medical Center will work with the Senior Leadership Team to help direct, coordinate and evaluate the clinical operations of the system to ensure safe and high quality patient care. The Chief Medical Officer will focus on the provision of comprehensive health services for the organization as well as fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency. Specifically, this leader will oversee the Medical Staff Office and all aspects of the medical center’s Quality and Clinical Resource Management. With a strong focus on inpatient operations, the Chief Medical Officer will work to build and sustain positive relationships with physicians and medical staff to work collaboratively across the organization to implement strategic objectives and share best practices to ensure high quality care for patients.
Essential Accountabilities
- Lead effective medical management review, quality and patient safety programs and ensure the effectiveness of associated infrastructure.
- Implement a strategy for quality resulting in highly reliable and repeatable performance on critical quality and safety measures.
- Support Fisher–Titus Medical Center’s mission, vision and values.
- Serve as an active member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic direction in areas of accountability; promote teamwork within and across the organization by maintaining positive relationships and utilizing effective collaborative problem-solving skills.
- Partner with the President and CEO and other members of the Senior Leadership Team in development of strategic and operational goals.
- Ensure the organization's clinical objectives and policies are clearly articulated and well executed.
- Serve as an advocate for the Medical Staff, but also as a liaison between the Medical Staff and Administration, working closely with both groups to ensure clinical functions maintain the high quality of outcomes that Fisher-Titus patients have become accustomed to.
- Develop a strong medical staff function, creating an environment where physicians are highly engaged and willing contributors.
- Provide oversight and leadership of the Quality and Clinical Resource Department, Infection Control, Patient Safety, Hospitalists and Medical Staff Office.
- Anticipate and respond to changes in the economic, healthcare, and regulatory environments and stays current with healthcare trends.
Position Qualifications
- Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy degree and licensure or ability to obtain unencumbered OH medical licensure.
- Board certified in a specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialists.
- Current state medical license without restrictions.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
- Five or more years of clinical leadership experience.
