The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) is conducting a search for the Dean of the School of Podiatric Medicine.  The Dean will be a senior member of the Institution’s leadership team, working with the Institution’s President, Provost, other Deans, and administrative leaders to advance the Institution’s vision for excellence in teaching, research, and engagement.  The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the school, reporting to the Provost on academic affairs, inter-professional education, collaborative research, clinical programs, and other related matters.   They will administer all phases of the instructional programs on the campus under the direction of the provost to include faculty recommendations for employment, evaluations of faculty, class schedule development, monitoring instructional effectiveness, and other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   

Education and experience equivalent to:

  • A doctoral degree in podiatric medicine (D.P.M.) with a minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years in an academic medicine setting is required, with a track record of accomplishment in academic, scholarly, and clinical endeavors.  
  • Must have experience in podiatric medical education, administration, business management, fiscal supervision, or another area related to the field focusing on medical education.  
  • The successful candidate must have extensive experience in administration, understanding of the principles and practices required to manage an Institution, and be a goal-oriented professional with excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication, organizational, planning, and public relations skills.  
  • Administrative leadership experience in a school of podiatric medicine is strongly preferred, with a record of success in developing and retaining a strong faculty and student body.  
  • The candidate's record should demonstrate a commitment to diversity in recruiting, supporting, mentoring, and retaining faculty, staff, and students from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.

This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in the state of Pennsylvania. Compensation is competitive with national benchmarks and commensurate with the experience, achievement, and responsibilities of this position.
