Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications, expressions of interest, and nominations of candidates in its search for the next Dean of the School of Computing & Data Science (SCDS).
The Institute
Wentworth Institute of Technology was founded “to furnish education in the mechanical arts.” Today, just under 4000 undergraduates pursue associate and bachelor’s degrees in 23 STEM, design, and management disciplines across five schools, including Architecture & Design, Computing & Data Science, Engineering, Management, and Sciences & Humanities. In addition to offering certificate programs, graduate students may pursue 13 master’s degrees. The hallmark of a Wentworth education is the robust co-op program, featuring hands-on experiences that offer depth of learning, career-relevant experiences, and valuable networking opportunities. Over 38% of the class of 2022 were offered post-graduate full-time employment by their co-op employer. Professionally relevant education is uniquely woven into the fabric of Wentworth, where students are encouraged to make connections across disciplines, in classrooms, labs, and as active participants in industry. Among the Class of 2022, 95% were employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation; of those employed, 97% reported working in their desired field or major while earning a median starting salary of $70,020.

The Role of Dean
The Dean is the chief academic, fiscal, and administrative officer for the School of Computing & Data Science. The Dean will provide leadership, advocacy, oversight, and management for the entire school. The Dean is responsible for carrying out Institute and School policies and providing leadership for and coordination of all educational, developmental, logistical, and professional activities of the School, as well as for maintaining open communication with and soliciting input from the faculty, staff, and students. The Dean reports to the Provost and oversees a faculty of 30 and a staff of 6.
The Dean leads and organizes faculty operations with integrity and professionalism and is accessible to both undergraduate and graduate students. The Dean collaborates closely with the other Deans as well as other leaders across the Institute, the region, the nation, and the world to coordinate academic programs, interdisciplinary initiatives, and applied research. They will have the opportunity to work closely with the Provost and President.

The search committee for the Wentworth Dean of Computing & Data Science will begin accepting nominations and reviewing applications immediately and through the Summer of 2024.
