About Beyond Hunger
Beyond Hunger believes hunger is solvable. The organization recognizes that hunger and food insecurity are not inevitable or solely a result of individual circumstances. They arise from a foundation of laws, policies, and practices that purposefully and systematically extend opportunity to some while withholding it from others. In the Chicago region, this has meant that Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC) face disproportionate barriers to food security due to the ongoing effects of racism. For these reasons, Beyond Hunger believes working towards racial equity is essential to ending hunger.
By leaning into its mission, Beyond Hunger addresses the root causes of hunger, provides enduring nutrition, and serves with dignity, empathy and intention. Together, Beyond Hunger works to create a racially equitable community where everyone has the food they need to thrive.
The Opportunity
The next Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) will provide bold leadership and direction to fulfill Beyond Hunger’s mission and broaden its reach and impact.
The CEO is responsible for the achievement of all operational and strategic goals, including fund and donor development, fiscal management, programming, board relations, staff oversight, community relations and administrative matters. Additionally, the CEO will be the chief spokesperson for Beyond Hunger and a trusted leader externally — a fixture of the West Side of Chicago’s nonprofit community.
