The Trinity College of Arts & Sciences at Duke University seeks a strategic, innovative, and dynamic communications professional for the role of Associate Dean of Communications and Marketing. Reporting to the Dean of the College and serving on both the Dean’s Senior Leadership Team and Duke University’s Senior Communications Leadership Group, the Associate Dean will promote the rigor, value and vibrancy of Trinity College’s educational and research programs; the scholarly contributions and achievements of the College’s faculty and students; and the College’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and diversity. The Associate Dean oversees a strong team of communicators who generate and amplify content to achieve these goals.
The Associate Dean also serves as a thought partner, strategic communications advisor, and writer for the Dean of Trinity College and other members of the Trinity Senior Leadership Team. This work includes leading executive communications for internal and external audiences and advising on issues and reputation management.
The network of communicators at Duke is several hundred strong, and the Associate Dean interacts with colleagues across the University and at peer institutions to stay informed of new developments and opportunities in strategic communications and to incorporate new practices to increase the effectiveness of Duke’s communications activity. An incredibly collaborative leader, the Associate Dean will develop and execute external communications strategy and internal processes to build, sustain, and amplify the impact of Trinity College’s faculty, students, and staff.

A senior leader within Trinity College, the Associate Dean should hold a bachelor’s degree in English, media, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field and have 7-10 years of relevant professional communications experience, including experience developing and implementing strategic communications plans. A graduate degree and experience in higher education is preferred.
This is a full-time position, located in Durham, North Carolina. The compensation will be commensurate with experience and is enhanced by a generous benefits package.
