Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSM) and Advocate Health are seeking a transformational leader and nationally renowned translational investigator to join our vibrant, collaborative neuroscience community as Director of a new Center for Neuroscience Discovery and Innovation that promotes world-class research, education, and community engagement. The new Director of the Neuroscience Research Center will be expected to build on the expanded scale of the enterprise and capitalize on new opportunities created by developments in science and technology to generate and apply new knowledge to treatment and prevention of brain disease.
The Center for Neuroscience Discovery and Innovation will be an overarching administrative structure bringing different components of interdisciplinary neuroscience research together across multiple entities and areas, including clinical, preclinical, basic science, community, and population health research. It will support neuroscience education at the undergraduate, graduate, medical and post-graduate levels, and will connect to the communities we serve with outreach and educational activities. The Center will partner with entrepreneurs and experts in public policy and philanthropy to facilitate community engagement. The new Director will develop specific goals and milestones for creating the Center, recruit research-intensive faculty with a range of complementary experience and expertise, and integrate current and developing research programs within the Center.
With the guidance of a visionary Director, the Center for Neuroscience Discovery and Innovation will support and expand neuroscience research across all Atrium Health and Wake Forest Baptist campuses, thereby enhancing academic reputation, increasing extramural funding and clinical trials, accelerating the creation and application of innovations that improve health, and inspiring and developing the next generation of researchers, leaders, and innovators.
