Miami University (Miami), an original Public Ivy and Top 75 National Public University, invites applications and nominations for the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education. Miami seeks an exceptional leader with a strong record of collaboration, a forward-looking vision, and significant academic accomplishment and administrative experience.
Miami University is a highly respected and distinctive public institution of higher education recognized for outstanding undergraduate education and selective graduate and research programs. The University serves the citizens of the state of Ohio, having a strong regional impact in Southwest Ohio, as well as a strong national and international constituency, with more than 40% of their student body coming from outside Ohio.
Reporting directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Associate Provost will serve as the campus-wide leader for undergraduate education and promote excellence in all areas of undergraduate education. By working collaboratively with internal and external partners, the Associate Provost will not only ensure Miami remains a visible leader in undergraduate education and maintains its reputation and standing as a nationally recognized, student-centered public research university but will also set a new and higher standard for undergraduate education and teacher commitment to student learning.
The Associate Provost will drive success on key strategic goals related to student success, undergraduate curriculum, and learning and will help articulate new priorities and strategic goals to continuously improve all aspects of Miami. As a member of the Provost and Executive Vice President's leadership team, the Associate Provost serves as the campus-wide expert and leader for undergraduate education and promotes excellence in all areas of undergraduate education.
The units that will report to the Associate Provost include: the Howe Center for Writing Excellence, the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), the Office of Liberal Education, the Honors College, the Office of Research for Undergraduates, Academic Integrity, and the Undergraduate Academic Advising Council.
Required Qualifications
Miami seeks an exceptional leader with a strong academic record; a proven ability to collaborate across silos with university leaders, faculty, staff, and students; and an ability to collaboratively create strategic plans and implement them. The Associate Provost will possess significant leadership experience as it relates to student success initiatives, retention, and undergraduate curriculum. The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in one of Miami’s general fields of study and have a history of research and scholarship to be eligible for appointment as a full professor or professor of practice within an academic unit of the University.
