As a national organization operating 23 schools across five regions, Rocketship has evolved its structure over time. Most significantly in regard to this role, over recent years, it has recognized that to continue to excel and grow while being deeply responsive to these local regions and communities, Rocketship needed to evolve how the network operated.
Since its inception, Rocketship’s program model has been conceptualized as a “tight” program model with a highly centralized approach. This “tight” program model is completed by local knowledge and leadership from Regional Boards of Trustees and Regional Executive Leaders. The ‘regional success model’ combines a continued “tight” program and centralized academic approach, streamlined central resources in areas of deep expertise, along with local leadership. Local leaders, the Executive Director and Board of Trustees shape the work of Rocketship in the region, develop and manage relationships with key constituents and stakeholders, and partner hand in hand with families and teachers to deliver exceptional learning experiences for Rocketeers.
This Executive Director’s role and leadership will further enable regional success by creating a clear, local leader for the region while continuing to optimize and invest in a strong connection and collaboration with the National Network (NeST) team and Washington DC Regional team. Through this structure, intentional partnership, and collaboration, Rocketship DC is able to thrive through optimizing the partnership with NeST while also ensuring that the unique needs of the DC region and community are met as we continue to realize ambitious goals for our DC team, kids, families, and communities.
