The Opportunity

In this dynamic role, the Head of Clinical Services (Head) will enhance the quality of behavioral and medical services provided across group homes and day programs for adults and teens with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The responsibilities include directing and overseeing the delivery of clinical services to ensure alignment with best practices and regulatory standards. Implementing and monitoring evidence-based behavioral and medical interventions is crucial for optimizing the health and well-being of individuals with IDD.

Leadership and mentorship are at the heart of this role, where the Head of Clinical Services will inspire and guide a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals in a collaborative and supportive environment. This person will be an exceptional manager and bring a diplomatic approach in leading the team through complex challenges and driving them towards success.   The Head of Clinical Services will have a solid understanding of business and finance practices and policies and possess organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Reporting into the Executive Director & CEO, the Head of Clinical Services is a senior leader focused on overseeing and integrating clinical and behavioral health programs, with a particular emphasis on services for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. This role encompasses strategic planning, program development, staff management, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. The position demands clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a profound understanding of behavioral health principles.

This is an in-person role and will be responsible for emergency management with an on-call 24/7 component to address any urgent health or safety issues that may arise.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have the following professional and personal qualities, skills, and characteristics, and be responsible for:

Strategic Leadership and Planning
  • Develop and implement the strategic vision for clinical and behavioral health services.
  • Align programs with the organization's mission and goals, especially focusing on individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.
  • Identify opportunities for program expansion and improvement.
Program Development and Management
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical and behavioral health programs tailored to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and integrate services to provide comprehensive care.
Behavioral Services
  • Develop and implement behavior intervention plans and support strategies for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.
  • Oversee Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs and other evidence-based behavioral interventions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behavioral programs and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Train and support staff in the delivery of behavioral services.
Clinical Services
  • Provide or oversee clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.
  • Develop individualized care plans based on clinical assessments.
  • Ensure access to necessary medical, psychological, and therapeutic services.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers, therapists, and other specialists to deliver integrated clinical care.
Staff Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality staff members.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Quality Assurance and Improvement
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and outcomes.
  • Implement evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Patient Care and Advocacy
  • Promote a patient-centered approach to care.
  • Advocate for the needs and interests of individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.
  • Ensure culturally competent and accessible care delivery.
Financial Management
  • Develop and manage budgets for clinical and behavioral health programs.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost-effective strategies.
  • Identify and secure funding opportunities.
Collaboration and Partnerships
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences and events.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure integrated services.
Innovation and Research
  • Stay current with trends and advancements in clinical and behavioral health.
  • Promote and support research initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.                  
In addition, strong candidates will offer:
  • Extensive experience in clinical and behavioral health services, particularly with individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and solve complex problems.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and patient-centered care.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Medicine, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Health Administration).
Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $140,000.
