About Brilliant Detroit
Brilliant Detroit was founded in 2016 with a bold vision to radically improve kindergarten readiness and early childhood success in Detroit. CEO Cindy Eggleton, along with Co-Founders Jim and Carolyn Bellinson, created an innovative approach to repurpose underutilized homes into vibrant neighborhood hubs, bringing critical services and programs directly into communities. This approach was designed to improve early childhood and family outcomes to, and fostered sustainable, community-driven change across the city.
Brilliant Detroit Hubs are the heart of this model. Located in the center of their neighborhoods, these repurposed homes serve as welcoming, accessible spaces where families can access a wide range of programs in four key areas:
Early Childhood Education and Literacy: High-dosage tutoring, literacy programs, and school readiness initiatives.
Health and Wellness: Programs that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being, including nutrition, fitness, and maternal health support.
Family Support: Resources such as parenting classes, financial literacy workshops, and workforce development.
Community Engagement: A focus on building strong, supportive communities through neighbor-to-neighbor connections, advisory teams, and regular listening sessions.

We seek a dynamic Executive Director to join the Brilliant Detroit family in our next chapter of growth. By deepening the community relationships that drive our success, the Executive Director will help propel our mission forward, ensuring continued growth and impact in the neighborhoods we serve.
By way of background, this is a pivotal moment for Brilliant Detroit as Cindy Eggleton, our visionary co-founder and CEO, transitions to focus on scaling Brilliant Cities. Under Cindy’s people-first leadership, compassion, and relentless pursuit of equity, Brilliant Detroit has become a vibrant network of engaged families, social support, and high-quality programs that have already left a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of children in Detroit. By infusing values of love, safety, and growth into every aspect of the organization, Cindy’s founding vision established vibrant neighborhood networks of engaged families, supportive social networks, and coordinated, high-quality programs for whole-child development.
