The University of Kentucky (UKY) Department of Internal Medicine seeks to recruit an outstanding academic physician with expertise in the care of rheumatology, and with the ability and personal characteristics to contribute to the growth and development of a comprehensive and interdisciplinary rheumatology program. The Division Chief, Rheumatology will be engaged in, and committed to, the development of a premier program which provides exemplary care for patients in a comprehensive, cohesive, efficient, and integrated manner. The Division Chief, Rheumatology reports directly to the Department Chair and collaborates with other leaders across UK HealthCare and the College of Medicine.
The Division of Rheumatology has six full-time faculty, five advanced practice providers, and an ACGME accredited rheumatology fellowship program with two first-year and two second-year fellows. Our mission is to provide excellence in patient care, education, and research. We are a group of physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff dedicated to providing state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal diseases. UKY Healthcare, the university’s academic health system, is a 5-hospital system with over 945-beds, inclusive of the flagship UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital.
The predominant criteria for appointment as chief include high emotional intelligence and a proven ability to deliver excellent patient care while training future leaders in rheumatology and internal medicine. The successful candidate will be an academic leader with an established record of excellence in clinical care, research, education, and mentorship. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong leadership skills as a listener, decision-maker, humanist, and an effective advocate for the faculty, the division, and the department. The candidate will demonstrate integrity and foster the trust of colleagues and the broader university faculty and must be an effective communicator. Prior administrative experience as a Division Chief or Program Director is preferred.
