SMART champions education equity by supporting students in overcoming systemic barriers on their journey to a college degree. They envision a community with equitable pathways to college graduation for every student in San Francisco – and they work towards that vision by providing students and families academic and social-emotional support, as well as college preparation and career exploration.
SMART provides a unique twelve-year continuum of support that starts in 4th grade and goes all the way through college, and includes school support, after-school enrichment, summer programming, college preparation and persistence.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the next Executive Director of SMART will provide strategic and innovative leadership to continue the organization’s commitment to serve students in San Francisco and determine the direction of its growth.
The Executive Director will be a highly visible face of the organization, both externally as well as internally, and will represent SMART in the donor, partner, and local communities.
The Executive Director will set and articulate a clear vision for the organization that embraces SMART’s desire to serve more students and expand its impact. Internally, the Executive Director will provide strategic leadership to SMART while maintaining excellence in the content and delivery of its programming and services, ensuring the organization continues to adapt and innovate to best meet the needs of students and their families. With a current annual budget of more than $3.8M, and an expected budget of up to $4.7M within the next 2 years, the Executive Director will have operational responsibility for SMART’s programs, fundraising, finances, and staff of 24.
