About Nonviolent Peaceforce
Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) envisions a worldwide culture of peace where conflicts within and between communities and nations are managed through nonviolent means. NP is a global civil society organization that works with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through unarmed civilian protection (UCP) and by helping to transform the world’s response to conflict situations.
Seeking to contribute to transformative social change, Nonviolent Peaceforce established a programmatic presence in the U.S. in 2020 in response to the uprisings for racial justice and the increasing political polarization. In its Strategic Plan 2021-2025, NP outlined its strategic priorities, which are centered upon three components: acceleration, innovation and consolidation. As such, The Head of NPUSA must maximize these efforts by having a clear understanding of the conflicts and tensions in the U.S.; program development and management experience; financial management experience; and experience raising funds to support adequate staffing levels and organizational growth.
NP’s work in the United States
The United States finds itself at a time of instability and upheaval characterized by political and social divisions, record gun sales, and an increase in hate groups and violence against targeted marginalized communities.
With this upheaval comes a need to reimagine safety and security. Nonviolent Peaceforce has partnered with local communities to offer the tools and methods of unarmed civilian protection to contribute to improved civilian safety, interrupt cycles of violence, and build bridges across polarized communities.
