ABOUT PARTNERS FOR WORLD HEALTH
Partners for World Health (PWH) is a non-profit 501(c)3 based in Portland, Maine whose mission is to improve health care and reduce environmental impact by collecting surplus medical equipment and supplies and distributing them to communities in need globally and locally. In 2024, 29 containers and shipments carrying 444,680 lbs. of lifesaving supplies valued at $7,364,720 were sent to 10 countries in need throughout the world.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The CEO is the face of Partners for World Health and represents the organization to donors, hospital and clinic executives, government officials, international leaders, container recipients, and the general public. The CEO also provides oversight and leadership to the PWH staff and works closely with the senior staff and the Board of Directors in developing and implementing programs and activities that are consistent with the PWH mission, vision, and strategic priorities. Desirable attributes of the CEO include visionary thinking, leadership abilities, creativity and problem-solving abilities, management skills, fiduciary expertise, diplomacy, knowledge of the health care system, prior experience in working with developing countries, ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, and expertise in fundraising, donor relations, and public speaking.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
While it is understood that no one candidate will bring every desired skill, characteristic, and experience, the following offers a reflection of the ideal candidate profile. Our client seeks candidates who are accomplished leaders with at least seven to ten years of management experience in roles of increasing responsibility. Demonstrated success in external representation, development/fundraising, and strategic planning is also desirable.
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree; an advanced degree in a related field is desirable, e.g., non-profit management; business administration; public administration, health policy, and/or public health; social work; medicine, nursing, allied health, and/or healthcare. Our client is also open to candidates with equivalent professional experience in a related, relevant setting.

- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with PWH’s mission and long-term sustainability.
- A forward-thinking leader with a deep understanding of global health trends and an ability to position the organization for future growth.
- Experience working with developing countries and underserved populations is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of the healthcare sector, both domestically and internationally, with an understanding of global logistics, public health challenges, and healthcare equity issues.
Fundraising and External Relations
- Proven expertise in securing diverse revenue streams, including philanthropic funding, corporate sponsorships, grants, government funding, and earned income strategies. Ability to build relationships with donors and funders to sustain and expand financial resources.
- Experience in collaborating with a Board of Directors and engaging key stakeholders, including community leaders, policymakers, international partners, and healthcare organizations.
- Strong diplomatic skills to navigate complex relationships and build strategic alliances. Politically savvy, capable of engaging with multiple stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking, media relations, and thought leadership.
- Ability to represent PWH at conferences, donor events, and public forums, effectively advocating for the organization’s mission.
Administration and Business Operations
- Strong management skills, including oversight of finance, human resources, program development, and operational efficiency.
- Experience leading and scaling organizations or departments while ensuring sustainable business operations. Strong experience in guiding teams through change while maintaining continuity and stability.
- Exceptional team-building skills with the ability to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment. Commitment to staff development, retention, and a healthy organizational culture.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $165,000.
