Tuskegee University, one of the nation’s most prestigious Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as a strategic partner to President Dr. Mark A. Brown who became Tuskegee’s 10th President on July 1, 2024.

Located in Tuskegee, Alabama, less than two hours from both Birmingham and Atlanta, Tuskegee University is a global leader in the education of African-Americans who aspire to contribute and uplift every aspect of society. Tuskegee is dedicated to academic excellence. An independent and state-related institution of higher education, Tuskegee is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SASCOC), with additional programmatic accreditations.

Tuskegee enrolls approximately 2,845 undergraduate, graduate, Ph.D., and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students, representing 41 states and 13 foreign countries. The University employs approximately 800 globally diverse faculty and support staff. The University budget is approximately $165 million, net assets $227 million, liabilities $39 million, and the endowment stands at nearly $200 million.

The Chief Financial Officer will serve as a thought partner to the President and provide key decision support for high level determinations related to strategic financial planning, investments, financing, forecasting, and complex negotiations. An enterprise-wide perspective, attention to detail, and an understanding of ROI are essential. As Tuskegee increases its research and scholarly productivity, an understanding of grant compliance is desirable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial for conveying complex financial information to the Board, leadership team, and to external audiences. As a leader, the CFO should be collaborative, entrepreneurial, and adept at change management. Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance standards is desired. Candidates must have a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical financial management. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is required.

This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in Tuskegee, Alabama. Salary commensurate with experience with a generous benefits package.
