ROLE SUMMARY
As the Managing Director for DSG Global’s Consulting Practice, you will be responsible for driving business development and sales efforts and focus on identifying and securing new business opportunities, cultivating relationships with key stakeholders, and positioning our consulting services as essential solutions for client success. The MD will secure, execute, and close executive search and consulting mandates for clients, driving business development and delivering successful outcomes for clients. A proactive, detail-oriented, and resourceful leader, the MD will excel in managing relationships, projects, and teams.
The ideal candidate is a resourceful strategic thinker with a proven track record in consultative sales, business development, and relationship management in professional and executive services/environments. Successful candidates will bring an entrepreneurial, service-oriented mindset, grounded in intellectual curiosity and perspective, in addition to the ability to generate revenue and serve as a partner to CEOs, Board of Directors and Leadership Teams. They will possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Business Growth & Development
- Development & Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a targeted sales strategy to grow the consulting practice’s client base and revenue.
- Lead Generation & Prospecting: Identify, engage, and qualify prospective clients through networking, outreach, and relationship building to drive revenue growth.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and aligning our consulting solutions accordingly.
- Leverage industry expertise and insights to help solve client challenges, showcasing DSG’s ability to deliver strategic consultative solutions.
- Proposal Development: Lead the development of compelling proposals, presentations, and sales materials tailored to client needs.
- Market Intelligence: Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape. Leverage industry expertise and insights to help solve client challenges, showcasing DSG’s ability to deliver strategic consultative solutions.
- Collaboration & Cross-Selling: Participate in firm-wide business development activities, including proposals, presentations, and networking to unlock new revenue streams and Promote collaboration across DSG teams to maximize synergies and deliver greater client value.
- Sales Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate tracking of sales activities, leads, and opportunities within systems, tools (including CONNECT, DSG’s proprietary database systems) to ensure effective forecasting and reporting.
Portfolio Management
- Oversee engagements, making certain projects are delivered successfully, meet client expectations, and uphold DSG’s high-quality standards.
- Negotiate and finalize client engagement letters ensuring clear alignment on project scope, deliverables, timelines, and terms with DSG clients and internal project stakeholders (Business Operations, Search Operations, Finance etc.).
- Identify opportunities for growth of the practice and areas that need resources.
- Monitor performance by tracking key metrics to drive continuous improvement including revenue growth, pipeline health, and client satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven track record (7+ years) in sales, business development, or client engagement within consulting, professional services, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of leadership consulting, talent strategies, and organizational effectiveness solutions with strong network relationships.
- Exceptional relationship-building and networking skills with the ability to engage C-suite and senior executives.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen with a track record of identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities, driving revenue growth, and delivering value-added solutions.
- Self-motivated and results-driven with the ability to independently manage complex projects and drive multiple initiatives to completion.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, results-driven approach.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Flexible and responsive, able to adjust to shifting priorities and maintaining focus under pressure.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for this role is formula-based and dependent upon business development. Managing Directors can anticipate an annual draw in the range of $150,000-$175,000, coupled with additional commission based on the individual’s execution. The compensation package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k match, and generous PTO including sabbatical time and parental leave, as well as short- and long-term disability, life insurance, and FSA.
