
The Music Institute of Chicago (MIC), a well-established music education not-for-profit, seeks a dynamic CEO to strengthen its financial foundation, increase its endowment, expand its footprint across the Chicago metropolitan region, raise its profile among Chicago’s business and civic institutions, and extend and innovate its community engagements, all while maintaining the current high quality of MIC’s extensive and varied music instruction. The CEO will have the support of a large and committed board, a developed donor base, an experienced and talented staff, and a stellar faculty. The CEO will bring a deep understanding of educational and arts institutions and demonstrate significant past success in presenting and representing such institutions to position them for growth and success.

The Music Institute of Chicago offers a wide range of programs designed to inspire and nurture musicians of all ages and skill levels. Its offerings include private lessons for individualized instruction in various instruments and voice, as well as group classes in early childhood music, theory, chamber music, and ensemble performance. For aspiring young musicians, the pre-college and advanced programs, including the prestigious Academy, provide rigorous training to help students achieve their full potential. Lifelong learning is also encouraged through classes and ensembles specifically designed for adults. The ideal candidate will possess significant years of experience and a record of progressive leadership appropriate to this role, preferably within a non-profit arts or music-based organization. A Bachelor's degree is required, and an advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred. The key aspect of this role requires an individual who has an appreciation for music and is dedicated to leveraging their network of relationships and their operational and financial leadership to achieve ongoing success.
