Vice Chancellor for Human Resources & Chief Human Resources Officer

The California State University (CSU) seeks a highly accomplished, innovative, and collaborative human resources executive to serve as its next Vice Chancellor for Human Resources & Chief Human Resources Officer (VCHR). Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the VCHR serves as the chief human resources officer for the nation's largest four-year public university system, providing strategic leadership for human resources across the Chancellor's Office and the CSU's 22 campuses.

The VCHR leads a team of experienced HR professionals within the Chancellor's Office and provides systemwide leadership, strategic direction, policy oversight, and guidance to campus human resources organizations. As the Chancellor's principal advisor on human resources, workforce strategy, labor relations, organizational effectiveness, talent management, and personnel matters, the VCHR also advises the 25-member Board of Trustees and serves as a member of the Chancellor's Council. Working in close partnership with campus presidents, faculty, staff, labor leaders, and other stakeholders across the system, the VCHR plays a pivotal role in advancing CSU's mission by fostering an engaged, high-performing, and future-ready workforce.

The ideal candidate for the VCHR position will be an experienced HR leader with broad expertise and working knowledge across all facets of HR functions, including labor and employee relations and civil rights, and capable of working effectively across multiple teams and campuses. The compensation range for this position is $327,000 – $392,000 with a generous benefits package designed to support physical, mental, and financial wellness.
